I was marveling the other day that my iPod, which an old and fairly battered model, has about four times the power of my first laptop, which was bigger than a phone book. And then I thought about the first spacecraft the US tossed into space, which didn;t have a tenth of the computing power I use to organize my music.

And they looked like old-fashioned photo booths.
